- Mekedatu (a.k.a. Sangama) is a very well known place for people in and around Bangalore. Mekedatu is a Kannada (a south Indian language) name that is composed of meke (goat) and datu (to cross). It is believed that a goat has crossed this narrow valley while it was being chased. Sangama and Mekedatu are actually two different places, but as they are next to each other, people usually call the area Mekedatu/Sangama.
