8–10 km out of Bodrum proper (although only 4 km away from Bodrum's outer neighbourhoods due to the massive growth it received with tourism developments), Bitez (pronounced bee-tehz) is one of the most rural and quietest towns lining the coast of Bodrum Peninsula.

The cove on which Bitez lies is known as one of the best windsurfing areas in the peninsula.
