Villa Epecuén
address: near Carhué, near PiqüéA former village that was flooded due to large rain falls in the 80s. What remains is a salt lake and a ghost village of which half is still flooded. Allowing for some grotesque and interesting pictures. Most of the community moved to the nearby touristy and picturesque Carhué. Take the time to walk the area from Carhué, which allows for great pictures. There are also therapeutic baths near Carhué which use the mud of the lake pretty much like at the Dead Sea between Israel and Jordan. -

Wine productionThe Province of Buenos Aires has only become a producer of premium wines during the first decade of the 21st century. Vineyards are located in the southern part of the province, especially around Médanos (40km from Bahia Blanca on Ruta Nacional 22). Wine-growing in this region was started in lands previously dedicated to garlic and pasture.
The Tres Arroyos Wheat FestivalIn Tres Arroyos, in the south of Buenos Aires province, there is a traditional celebration between the first day and seventh day of March: The Wheat Festival. In the festival, there are a lot of food stalls offering local traditional food: roast beef, roast veal, roast lamb. But wheat plays the most important role. There´s a wheat seeds competition. The best seed and the producer of that seed are awarded a prize. There´s also a folk music show, and on the last day of the festival a panel of judges chooses The Wheat Festival Queen.
Hiking
-
(green ) – Distance: 9.4 km, hilly to steep. Duration: 4-6 hr. Grade: medium. Recommended: comfortable clothes and hiking boots; not recommended during rain.
This is an interesting hike due to the picturesque mountain and surrounding region. The trail follows the waterfall trail first, and later keeps following the ridge directly to the top. It might look quite steep from the bottom but there are actually many large rocks with good grip. Hence, you are barely required to use your hands to hike up the trail. Nevertheless, stay clear of any mountain edges and remain along the ridge.
If you want to do the trail with overnighting, camping at the foot of the waterfall (not during expected rain) or about 800 m down the river from there is recommended. Use OpenStreetMap, which many mobile Apps like OsmAnd and MAPS.ME, to display the camping marker and trails.
