8 miles west of Dunfermline and 11 miles east of Falkirk. It is easily reached from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and is well worth a one day trip.
By BusBuses run every hour or so from Dunfermline and Stirling. Stagecoach 78 takes about half an hour from Dunfermline. There are connections at Dunfermline from Edinburgh.

The Palace, Study and Town Housein the care of the National Trust for Scotland. . The restored town is a rare example of a 17th-century burgh.
