Dharwad or Dharwar city is in northern part of Karnataka state, India. Karnataka state lies in South India.

Dharwad and Hubballi ( Hubli ) are twin cities of Karnataka ( Karunadu ). While Dharwad is educational and cultural centre , Hubbali is commercial hub. These cities have municipal corporation by the name Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC). Dharwar was part of Bombay Presidency during British rule of India. These cities are connected by road, railway ( railroad ), air to major cities of India ( Bharat ). It has climatic features of both Malenadu and Bayaluseemae.

By Road : Dharwad is connected to Karnataka state capital Bengaluru ( Bangalore ), Pune ( Poona ) and Mumbai ( Bombay ) which is commercial capital of India by National Highway 48 ( NH 48 ) which was previously known as Pune- Bangalore (PB) road.
Also National highway 52 ( NH 52 )connects Hubli Dharwad to National highway 66 near Ankola via Kalaghatgi and Yellapura. National highway 52 connects Hubli to Solapur via Navalgund, Naragund,Kerur, Bagalkote, Bilgi cross, Kolhar, Vijayapura ( Bijapur ), Horti and Zalki on another side.
National highway 67 ( NH 67 )connects Hubli twin city of Dharwad to Proddatur in Andhra pradesh state via Shiraguppi, Annigeri, Hulkoti, Gadag, Lakkundi, Koppal, Hosapete, Toranagallu, Kudtani, Ballari ,Guntakal, Gooty, Anikireddypalli, Kolimingudla and Jammalamadugu.
Buses run by Karnataka state government undertakings NWKRTC, NEKRTC, KSRTC connect Dharwad to various cities and towns of Karnataka , Goa and Maharashtra state. There are daily buses from Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Udupi, Davangere, Karwar, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Hosapete, Ballari, Goa via Ponda, Mumbai, Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur to Dharwad city. There are NWKRTC bus service at the frequency of 15 minutes from city of Belgavi ( Belgaum ), Karnataka.
Private buses also connect Dharwad to Bengalooru, Mangalooru, Mumbai, Pune and Udupi.
By Railway: Dharwad has a railway station. Nearby Hubli Junction at distance of 15 Kilometres is headquarters of South Western Railway ( SWR ) zone of Indian railways. One can get trains from Madgaon(Goa), Kolhapur, Miraj, Pune , Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Davangeri to Dharwad.
By Aircraft: Hubli airport is at distance of 15 Kilometre from Dharwad, Hubli is connected to Bengaluru and Mumbai by flights.

There are city buses running at the frequency of 2 minutes between Hubballi and Dharwad. Also from Dharwad Central Bus Terminus ( CBT ) to various localities of Dharwad. One can hire autorickshaws to visit different places within city limits. Private taxi's are also available.
