Gin Gin is a small town of a thousand people in Queensland. It is a service town on the Bruce Highway, around 4 hours from Brisbane and 45 minutes from Bundaberg.Get in
Gin Gin is on the Bruce Highway, at the turning to Bundaberg heading from the north.
Get around
- There is an unsealed railtrail from Gin Gin the nearby pub town of Tirroan, following an old railway alignment. You can walk, cycle or horseride on the trail. The remnants of the station are at the Gin Gin end of the path. There is nothing but a sign at the Tirroan end.
- You can walk around the town easily.
See
Boolboonda TunnelAn abandoned heritage-listed tunnel, it is the longest unsupported tunnel in the Southern Hemisphere, at around 200 metres long. The tunnel was dug for the railway, but now a road goes through the tunnel, and you can drive through.

There is a choice of takeaway style, and pub food available.
Drink
There is a choice of pubs. The eating areas are outdoors, so bring your own insect repellent to your evening meal.
