Hallsberg is a town in Närke near the demographic centre of Sweden. The town is dominated by its railway station. While the town itself has 7,000 inhabitants, around 15,000 people live in the municipality, Hallsbergs kommun.

At the intersection of two main rail lines, Hallsberg is easy to reach by rail (see rail and bus travel in Sweden). Half-way between Stockholm and Gothenburg, the town is 1 hour 30 minutes from them with express trains.
