Hammondsport is a village in the Town of Urbana, in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It lies on the southern end of Keuka Lake.

Get in

The closest airport is Elmira-Corning Regional Airport (ELM), about 45 miles from Hammondsport. Rochester International Airport (ROC) is about 90 minutes from Hammondsport. There is a small, non-commerical airport in Penn Yan, NY, which is 15 miles from Hammondsport. It can accommodate small jets and, when the wind and weight is right, a 737.
Amtrak serves Rochester and Syracuse, which are 90 and 120 minutes away from Hammondsport respectively, with no viable public transportation to the village and lake.

Get around

Keuka Lake is partially in Hammondsport and Steuben County. There is a water taxi (boat) based in Hammondsport and portions of the other towns on Keuka Lake. There is a county bus system with a stop at the Lake in Depot Park Docks on Water Street, but it does not run after 5PM or weekends.

Glenn H. Curtiss, a native of Hammondsport, was one of the earliest aviators and set numerous aviation records. The museum includes early airplanes and related equipment, a restoration shop, and other local historical items.

Do

OnKeuka!There is a small tour boat company, who also runs the Water Taxi Service. They provide shoreline tours leaving from Depot Park Docks on Water Street in Hammondsport and cruising up to the bluff and back. Often swimming off the boat is encouraged during the tour. The have NY State Public Vessels (pontoon boats) which are operated by NY State Public Vessel Operators. Each boat holds approximately 12 guests.

There are many wineries and breweries along Keuka Lake. Tours are available as a pay per seat through the company OnKeuka! The tour includes a boat ride followed by van escort to wineries or breweries before returning to the Village Center in Hammondsport. They run spring, summer and fall.

There are 6 eating establishments on Keuka Lake with docks. They all have full bars available. 3 of them are in the Hammondsport area (Town of Urbana) of Keuka Lake.
