The nearest airport is in Lilabari in Assam, which is nearly 67 km (42 mi) away. This airport is well connected by flights from Guwahati. Pawan Hans provides helicopter facility between Itanagar and Guwahati, thrice a week.By bus

Naharlagun is the nearest railway station, which is nearly 15 km. away from the city. Taxi and bus services are easily available from the railway station to Itanagar. Before you enter Arunachal Pradesh you need to get an inner line permit either from Arunachal Bhavan located at New Delhi or in Kolkata. There is a checkpost at the Assam Arunachal Border in Bandardowa where you need to show the permit and explain your reason for travelling. Foreign tourists too need to get this permit before they can enter in the city.See
