Kazakh phrasebook

The Kazakh Cyrillic Alphabet has 42 letters and is an expanded version of the Russian Cyrillic Alphabet. It used in for the written Kazakh language in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. Kazakhs in China use an older Arabic script used by all Kazakhs before 1927.

Signs

These are for Russian words only. These used to be vowels (pronounced like the unstressed vowels above), but aren't any more. They indicate whether the preceding consonant is hard or soft.

• Сёмка (soh-mkah) - Simon

Common diphthongs

Kazakh has 8 pronouns. When speaking directly to someone (2nd person), use "сен" (syen) when they are the same age or younger, and "сіз" (siz) when they are older.

The sentence structure in Kazakh is S.T.O.P., or Subject Time Object Participial, with the verb (or participial) subject agreement. For example a sentence would read Tom yesterday sandwich ate (Том кеше сэндвич жеді).
