Khamlia is a little village in desert by the biggest dunes Erg Chebi in Morocco.Understand
Khamlia is located 7km after Merzouga on the way to Taouz where asphalt road ends. All together there are 32 houses with about 150 persons. The majority of the people is black. The life is still calm and peaceful.
In Khamlia are three small shop, a coffee house and a school. Here is also electricity and water.

Get in
To go to Khamlia is not easy if you don't have a car. But you can take a taxi or some other driver from Merzouga.
See
You can not see here some museum or so but you can see the highest sand dunes in Morocco. You can see how people is living here.
Do
You can take a promenade through the village, visit Berber family who will be happy for you. You are welcome also to visit the school, talk with children, play football with them.
To go to the sand dunes is relaxing and exciting too. In opposite site is open area here and you can see even so far as to mountain.
Of course, you will find here the famous music group Gnawa. Their music is ritual music and communicates with mystery. They will play for you anytime you wish. Take a tea and listen.
If you have 4x4 you can go to M´Fis, it is mineral mines and it is very interesting to see, how the worker works there.

Eat
Moroccan food can get served both at Dar el Khamlia and Nora caffee.
Drink
only coca cola, coffee, mint tea, Berber "whiskey" green tea, but no alcohol at all.
Sleep
You can sleep on the Dar el Khamlia, little guest house directly in the village, near the little tower you pass just before Khamlia. Or at Gnawa they have Berber tents.
