Kramfors is a coastal town in Ångermanland, in Västernorrland County in Sweden.
Understand
The city and several outlying villages became the centre of lumber and pulp industry in Sweden during late 19th century. As an important industrial center the town saw a boom during the first half of the 20th century but have since then been declining in population and strategic importance. Kramfors is also famous in Swedish labour history; it was in nearby village of Lunde that military police opened fire upon striking workers, killing five and injuring many more. Even today there is a strong presence of the labour movement.
However, Kramfors and the whole of Ångermanland is also famous for its beautiful nature and Höga Kusten with unique natural scenery featured as a UNESCO World Heritage.
