Lake Bunyonyi is a charming lake dotted with little islands in Western Uganda. The terraced landscape and vibrant colours make it almost cartoonish.
Get in
From Kabale, take a taxi or boda-boda to Rotindo Market (8 km, 20-25 minutes). From Rotindo you can hire a canoe or motorboat to the destination of your choice.

phone: +256 772 981 155Situated on a hillside high above the lake. Spectacular panoramic views. There are about 12 rooms, in two rows, all have lake views. The lower front row are lovely octagonal cottages with thatch roof. The upper row are newer concrete, also good but less character. All en suite, clean, with hot water and electricity. Comfortable double beds, twin rooms available. Good food. Friendly service. Pretty garden.

Half of the island is used for the resort, while the other half contains plots of land given to locals who are in need of space for subsistence farming. A range of accommodation is available, from camping and dorms, up to a luxurious cottage. The two geo-domes are beautiful and rustic and offer views of the landscape from your bed. They've opened their own secure car park at Rutindo Market. Camping USh 12,000.

Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort

This resort opened in June 2016 and is located a 10-minute drive around the lake, secluded from the large cluster of hotels/resorts near the lake entry. Double rooms with shared bathrooms, and elevated, self-contained cottages are available, all with great views. Open air bar and restaurant overlooking the lake on-site. Canoeing and swimming can be done right from the on-site dock. Full board packages (including accommodation, food, tours, transfers, etc.) can all be arranged.
