Lower Austria (German: Niederösterreich) — as the name implies — is a state of Austria.
Regions
Lower Austria is split into 4 regions each called a viertel (German for quarter).
Industrieviertel (Industrial Quarter)
Mostviertel (Most Quarter)
A hilly region with lots of beautiful countryside. Is especially pretty in mid April when trees bloom. Most is a form of cider that is grown here from pears and apples.
Waldviertel (Forest Quarter)
Weinviertel (Wine Quarter)
Cities
- — the capital of Lower Austria, though that title historically belonged to Vienna
- — the best known alpine resort in eastern Austria and the closest to Vienna
Other destinations
