Newport is a small market town in Shropshire, with a history dating back to the 12th century. It is home to several educational institutions, and has housed a wide range of notable people throughout the centuries. A few of the Medieval buildings remain and the town's main attraction is its wide main street, full of 18th century Regency and Georgian style facades. The already picturesque atmosphere is enhanced in summer with many floral displays. Newport has won a number of Gold medals in the England in Bloom competition.Understand
