Raigad is a district in the Konkan division of Maharashtra state. where the old name of the district was coolaba. Later name change to the famous Fort Raigad build by Shivaji maharaj and was a kingdom of its maratha empire. Cities

Get in
Raigad District is well connected by road and rail. It has major stations e.g. Panvel, Karjat, Roha, Pen, Khopoli etc. NH 4, NH 17 & Mumbai - Pune Expressway passes thru Raigad District. It is also well connected with Mumbai by sea e.g.Uran-Mora, Alibaug-Rewas. Soon a new Airport at Panvel will connect it by air to rest of the world.

There are many places of tourist interest:
- Raigad Fort which was a main fort in Chatrpati Shivaji Maharaj's rule is a very famous attraction. A must see for all adventure and history lovers. It is best to visit the fort during monsoon or immediately after the monsoons. The whole place is green and filled with awesome fog. There is a ropeway to reach the fort or one can simply trek to the fort.
