phone: +264 62 5222370Oanob is a dam outside Rehoboth built in 1990. The resort opened in 1994. You can swim here, fish (permit required!), hike, do water sports, camp, and grill meat. There is also a restaurant and a bar, as well as a pool for the days that the dam is empty or the water is too cold to swim in. The camp site is popular with Windhoekers and therefore often fully booked on weekends. The camping spots vastly differ in luxury, from a sandy spot behind the bird cages to grass-thatched lapas with wooden decks overlooking the dam. Make sure you check the spot allocated to you before you pay. The 4x4 self drive is not worth the time. Neither is it a 4x4 track, any car will do, nor will you see anything spectacular except the length of the dam and a bit of wildlife. If you are day visitor and you want to set up a braai (barbecue) you will have to book a camp site at half price. If you walk around the bush wear proper shoes; the area teems with scorpions and snakes.
