Seine Bight

Either you fly in via Tropic Air or Maya Air (Placencia Airport) and then take a cab to Seine Bight (about 5 min) or you take the bus. When you come from Belize City you will have to change buses in Dangriga (4-5 hours) or you rent a car and drive down.
The Placencia Peninsula Road has been paved already between Maya Beach and Placencia (July 2009). However the rest of the road, about 15 miles, is still unpaved but in good conditions.

Seine Bight stretches a few miles along the peninsula. You can easily walk around, stroll on the beach or ride your bike. Car rental companies are at the Airport Placencia, 2 miles south of Seine Bight.

Relax on the beach or book tours to Maya Ruins, into the jungle or go diving on the second largest barrier reef.

Everyday Supermarket (very day till 9PM) is very clean, well stocked and the staff is extremely friendly. It is in the center of Seine Bight on the main road.
There is also a vegetable shop and other very small grocery stores in Seine Bight.
Visit also Lola's Art to shop for your souvenirs. Lola is a painter and well recognized in Belize.

There are a few places which offer a very nice setting, excellent cuisine and great service. Eat at Danube, the Austrian restaurant south of Seine Bight, at Nautical Inn, just north of the center or at Blue Crab Resort, half a mile north of the center.
A bit further north or south you will find resorts with excellent cuisine as well.
However there are a few local places or street vendors offering rice, beans and stew chicken or fish.
Vern's is a good option for authentic, local fare in a tin-roofed, screened porch setting, with the barbecue alongside the street.
Visit also Goss Chocolate factory. Its chocolate is handmade from 100% organic grown cacao. Look out for the golden wrapped bars.

Try out Wamasa´s for a bitter and a Belikin and chat with the locals.

In and around Seine Bight there are a few excellent resorts. No matter if you like high-end luxury or simple and clean beach cabanas, you will find it here.
