Silhouette Island is in the Seychelles. Just north is North Island, an exclusive resort.Understand
Silhouette Island is largely uninhabited, but has one luxury hotel and one lodge on it. A system of trails allow visitors to explore the largely deserted beaches, while golf carts provide transportation from the dock to the hotel. A small community containing a dive shop (and little else) makes this a pretty remote destination.
Get in
To get to this island from Mahe, there are 3 scheduled crossings, 9AM, 2:30PM and 5PM.
To return from Silhouette, there are crossings at 5AM, 11AM and 4PM.
Get around
Walking is the main mode of transport. There are also bicycles available, and Hilton resort staff are able to give you lifts on their golf buggies.
See
Visit the Silhouette Island Museum. You will be introduced to the well-known Dauban family, plantation owners of French extraction, who bought the island in 1860 and owned it for a hundred years. At one time, there were around 1000 laborers living and working on the island. The original, traditional Dauban family home has been turned into this museum, filled with original photographs and memorabilia.
Buy
Buying clothes and swimming gear is exorbitantly expensive on this island. It's much better to buy all needed goods on the main island, or in your outgoing airport.
