By trainSpittal lies on the Tauernbahn, a railway which connects Salzburg and Villach (main railway hub in Southern Austria). Every fast train ("Intercity" and others) stops in Spittal, some go directly to Vienna or Vienna airport. The station is named "Spittal Millstättersee" for touristic purposes.

By carSpittal lies at the A10-Tauernautobahn. There are two exits: Spittal-Ost ("east") and Spittal-Nord / Millstättersee ("north"). There's a special 110 km/h - speed limit on the highway during the night hours.
Spittal is small enough for everything to be seen on foot.
