The city is an approximately two-hour minibus ride away from Constanta bus station.
Train services are rather slow, there's several daily trains from Medgidia, taking three hours. At Medgidia it's possible to connect with Intercity trains from Constanta and Bucharest. There are two railway stations, with the terminus on Strada Portului 6 being the one close to the city centre.

At the Tulcean riverside promenade there is an information centre on the Danube Delta-ecosystem, which is a UNESCO World Heritage-site. The information centre has with friendly, English-speaking staff.
