Uitgeest is a village in North Holland in the Netherlands.Understand
Uitgeest was the birthplace (in 1550) of Cornelis Corneliszoon, inventor of the wind-powered sawmill.
Get in
The village has a train station and an excellent bus service that provides access to neighboring areas and Amsterdam. The train station is served by four trains per hour.
There are two waterways connecting the Uitgeestermeer (translates as Uitgeester-Lake). From Alkmaar you take the canal (Noord-Hollandsch Kanaal) southbound. From Amsterdam you take the Zaan river northbound and via the Stierop to this lake. The marina closest to Uitgeest is called Water Sport Centrum Uitgeest and is a ten minute walk to the lovely city center.

The lake on the outskirts past the marina is excellent for swimming and safe for young children as a child-friendly area is cordoned off.
Due to the abundance of canals and ditches the area around Uitgeest it is fairly easy to find a nice place for angling.
