Lindow MossLindow Moss' origins go back to the last Ice Age. When the glaciers were melting the gravel sand and clay was carried from the Pennines and deposited on the Cheshire plains. Lindow Man, also known as Pete Marsh, is the name given to the naturally-preserved bog body of a Late Iron Age man, discovered in Lindow Moss peat bog (on the Mobberley side of the border with Wilmslow) on 1 August 1984 by commercial peat-cutters.
